Photography Blur: Weekly Challenge, Week 1

Hey everyone!! I'm so excited to start challenging my photography in 2011. As I posted in my first blogpost, I found a fellow blogger, Shutterboo (check out her website, linked below), and her 52 Week Challenge. She's made a list, checked it twice (I'm guessing, or I'm still just in the holiday spirit...) and has posted them for everyone and anyone to see and join in.
I, for one, am very excited to see my hobby grow and see other people's work along the way. But if you want to know a little bit more about me and my growing interest in photography, keep reading!
I've always loved photos. I'm usually the one that picks up a dusty photo album and makes someone look at it with me. I'm sure I would be a person with slides and a projector if it wasn't so looked down upon. On vacations, I'm the one that wakes up early to go get pictures of the sunrise or that annoying girl at the party that makes you all pose for a shot. In the recent years, I've grown from those drunken college photo ops to more vacations and wedding opportunities.
The more and more photos I started taking the more and more I realized I enjoyed the hunt for good lighting or an interesting angle and I even liked going through and editing the pictures I took along the way to make them stand out even more.
I'm still a major amateur, but I got a fancy new camera (a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1), a monopod for stability, and a buttload of enthusiasm for this thrilling new passion.
The first weekly assignment is ELECTRICITY. Which I think is a pretty great way to start considering a feel pretty electric to start this new year.
I took my camera out with me today while my family golfed, and got some out-of-the box ideas for the theme, but I still have things working in my brain. I have until next Wednesday to post to Flickr, but I probably won't last that long. So check back! And in the meantime, check out the links below!
